What is a “seascape”?
A “seascape”, for the purposes of this library, is a gridded field surrounding a geographical point. The use of the term “seascape” instead of “landscape” or “environment” comes from the fact that XScape was originally developed as part of an oceanographic research project.
In any case, the “background field” you use does not have to be ocean-related. You may use XScape to get land surface temperatures around a city, atmospheric pressure maps around a weather station, or whatever you want. The only requirement is that your field be gridded in a regular latitude/longitude grid at any resolution, and that your point be located somewhere inside that grid.
